Rexall Place isn't a desert, but it hosts British band Oasis. Matt Costa and Ryan Adams & The Cardinals open. Mr. Costa plays a thrilling set, closing with an accapella song that leaves the audience clapping. Ryan Adams plays a pumped up, yet sometimes discerning, set. One of my favorite parts of a concert is looking at the photos that people take. Even though they might have a great camera, they don't know how to use the functions for concerts. Worse yet is them not knowing how to frame a photo. There weren't too many people in front of me since I bought a last minute ticket 2 hours before the show. I was checking for tickets earlier but the best was 27th row on the floor. But two hours before, I get an 8th row centre ticket! Score! A guy sitting behind me hands me his Blackberry with this message typed on it, "Could I get copies of your pictures? They're great. Can you write down your email address." Stupidly I write down my email address, but on second thought, I should have typed, "Sure, buy me a rum & Coke and it's a deal!" Oasis puts on a great show, though Liam could be a bit happier, though his schtick is the anger. I also discover that I really hate people. Well I guess just dumb people, or fat chicks who think they're hot and own the place. There's this fat chick, along with her fugly boyfriend, who sneak into the 7th row in front of me. Then when Oasis hits the stage and the guys who have the 7th row seats come, the chick doesn't leave even though the boyfriend does. In fact the fat chick climbs on her chair and security doesn't even come to take her down. She even offers to take a picture for me but I flat out refuse. She may be higher up, but I'm confident in my photo taking skills -- even though there's two tall guys in front of me. But I do manage to take over 300 photos for the night. I also don't understand why people go to concerts and get completed wasted. They spend all the money on the concert ticket and then pay outrageous amounts for beer and cocktails. Wouldn't you want to be able to remember the concert night? Plus one of those talls guys waves his beer all over and splashes me with beer, and even worse yet, gets my camera wet. Oasis shined most playing their songs from "(What's The Story) Morning Glory" album. Then again, does anybody know any other of their songs not from that album. I own their "Don't Believe The Truth" album but it's completely forgettable. Oasis ends the night by playing the Beatles' "I Am Walrus." It's a surreal way to end the show, considering Oasis once touted themselves as the band that'll be bigger than the Beatles. In reality, though 11,000 people showed up, Oasis is a band of the past. I took 9 videos of the night, they might be going up on my Youtube page, but I have yet to decide if I want them up or not.
