In a year when Diana Ross, Elton John, Janet Jackson, Celine Dion and Madonna are touring, one has to go see at least 2 of these divas. Originally I was going to see Madonna in Vancouver, but with cost and expenses that dream died down. I saw Diana Ross earlier this year in the second row and it was a pretty damn good show. Celine Dion is the 17th concert of 2008 for me.
I'm not a Celine Dion fan. Actually I really can't stand her, especially when she sings in English. She's bearable in French. I have to admit she has a powerful voice and is a damn fine singer. But I find her bland and well just blah. When opportunity rose and I was presented with 2nd row floor centre tickets two days before the concert, I decided I should check out one of the shows of the year since I am the self proclaimed and notorious concert whore. Plus I also wanted to rub it into Celine fans' faces that I had better tickets than them! And I can't even stand the woman. It surprises me that I end up taking over 400 photos of her. She wasn't as skinny as I thought she would be. Unfortunately she has given up the chest thump, the one over the top Celine move I wanted to capture. My favorite moment of the evening was when she sang "Pour Que Tu M'Aimes Encore." I videotaped a minute of that. Her outfits were pretty fabulous...except those hideous lace up white boots. Those are an abomination of nature!
