Where do I begin talking about Britney's Circus? It was definitely a spectacle and one that I couldn't miss. It was entertaining and a visual feast. However it wasn't as amazing as all the teenaged girls are saying it to be. For starters, the show is entirely lypsanced. I knew going into it. It's a well-manufactured production of hiding all of Britney's flaws. The attention should be focused on her dancing...but her dancing has soured to the point where she looks almost lifeless at times. To hide this, many props were raised up, lowered, brought on by her supporting dancers and circus troupe -- it all took a toll during the middle of the concert. The song selection kind of dropped. She should have stuck with just her hit songs instead of relying heavily on her last two albums, Blackout and Circus. As a seasoned concert goer, I was expecting something more. Or perhaps I was just expecting to see Britney fail. If Brit had more interaction with the audience instead of just a couple of "Hey Edmonton," then perhaps I would have felt a stronger connection. During her "Freakshow/Peepshow" segment, a male Britney fan is brought on stage by the circus handlers. By the time Britney shows up, she doesn't touch the guy or pretty much stare in his direction. It's one squat and one ass shake and the male fan is left alone with an upclose look at one who once was the Princess of Pop. She may have made a comeback, but she won't be gaining any royal titles anytime soon. I really wanted to enjoy the show too. The Pussycat Dolls had me moving and I was pumped up. The show began great, but everytime it was building to that pedestal of concert greatness, it fizzled and faded fast. There was way too much focus with the supporting circus freaks. The show opens with her declaring and singing that she's the ringmaster and calling the shots of the circus. By the end she was just a puppet; a marionette perhaps, where the controlling strings are beginning to snap.
