I am the man. I told Share Bear and Tony that I will somehow get tickets to the sold out Arcade Fire concert at Red's. I'm good on my word. In the wee hours of the morning, I log on to ticketmaster.ca and purchase newly released tickets. Montreal is the current musical hotbed in Canada. Bell Orchestre and wolf Parade both open for The Arcade Fire. There are problems with the Red's venue. The lighting is terrible and the sound is even worse. During Wolf Parade's set, the guitarist had to ask the sound guy to turn down his monitor half way three times. But the night comes out as the best show of the year in Edmonton. The Arcade Fire opens up with their huge hit "Wake Up" and each succeeding song is just that much better. On a side note, there are a couple of problems with concert attendees. There's this one girl who just couldn't fucking shut up, and her voice is one of those whiny ones that I just couldn't leave it alone. When everyone in front of her is turning around giving her a dirty look and she doesn't even realize it, then somebody has to speak up. Then there's also another girl in front of me, one who used to be a friend of mine. Being the guy I am, I say my hellos and pleasantries. She gives me the fakest smile in the world, but I suppose that has to do with the fact that she is a teacher and looks down on kids all the time. Whatever floats her boat, and I suppose it's a bit small of me to write about the incident on my website, but that's what floats mine.
